Friday's 1890 Seafood: Your Destination for Authentic Coastal Dining in New Bern, NC

Nice atmosphere, great food, good price. I heard about this place by word of mouth, and it didn't disappoint. I had scallops, clam strips, broccoli, and sweet potato. Everything was delicious, and the portions were a solid size. We will be back.

The food was great and the portion sizes were unbelievable for the price. The broccoli was delicious and the sweet potatoe was perfectly cooked. We can't say enough about how wonderful Paris was as our wait staff. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and just made us feel welcome. We were visiting the area from out of town for a wedding and she was extremely helpful in providing us information to navigate around town. From the time we stepped in the door, the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area.

My server Casey was awesome and professional. She checked on us to make sure everything was good. The Flounder was great and the green beans were phenomenal. I highly recommend their hush puppies they are the best I have ever had.

The food was more like a 3.5 , the fish was good but the shrimp didn't have much flavor, the hush puppies are always great and were hot with a little butter that's an appetizer right there. Service was excellent, prompt, courteous, and engaging which is refreshing. The decor has been the same for years and could use a serious refresh!! Overall not bad.

For years, I’ve wanted to try this place out! So glad we finally did! It’s amazing! Fast service! Home town atmosphere! And above all, the food was hot and delicious! Pic is the kids plate!!

First time in today and it was great! It's very deceiving on the outside, but clean, fresh, and comfy inside. Food was amazing, and so was the service! Cookie was our waitress and her timing was on point. We will definitely visit again when in town!

I have to admit, like others I was a little nervous once I saw the outside. But a previous review convinced me to go inside. I was looking for some decent seafood, at fair prices. I was staying down by the waterfront and some of those places down there looked great, but just overpriced, so I went to Google maps and found this place. I have to say it didn't disappoint! I am from the coast of southern Virginia so I am used to good seafood, and Fridays 1890 didn't disappoint! For $14.99 I got hushpuppies, two sides and a generous portion of flounder (and I only got the "regular" size). The finger hush puppies were very tasty and cooked just right. The flounder was lightly breaded and honestly just perfect. All food came out within about 10 to 12 min and was fresh and hot. Also the service was very friendly and inside was very clean and homey.

This was some of the best seafood I have eaten since being in NC since 2020! Service was exceptional, Jessica our server was phenomenal and prices was just right! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!
